Coal India and UPRVUNL Join Hands to Establish Solar Power Plant in Uttar Pradesh

In a major push towards renewable energy, Coal India Limited (CIL) has signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with Uttar Pradesh Rajya Vidyut Utpadan Nigam Limited (UPRVUNL) to set up a solar power plant in Uttar Pradesh. The agreement marks a significant step in Coal India’s strategic diversification beyond coal, aligning with India’s clean energy transition goals.
The proposed solar plant will be developed under a joint venture model, where both CIL and UPRVUNL will contribute equity and technical expertise. The location, capacity, and investment details are currently under planning, but the project aims to accelerate solar adoption in a state that holds vast potential for clean energy growth.
This partnership not only reflects CIL’s growing commitment to renewable energy but also strengthens UPRVUNL’s portfolio in sustainable power generation. The collaboration will help reduce the carbon footprint and support India’s broader target of achieving 500 GW of non-fossil fuel capacity by 2030.
With this initiative, Coal India continues to expand its footprint in the renewable energy sector while maintaining its status as the country’s largest coal miner.
Stay tuned for further updates on this green energy milestone in Uttar Pradesh.
